Season 8 Sampler 78" x 78" This is the first of four commissioned quilts for Alex Anderson, hostess of the HGTV television show Simply Quilts. Alex asks the guests on her show to contribute a six-inch quilt block which features their specialty. I will be putting together each season's collection of blocks into a separate quilt for Alex. This obviously represents the invited guests on "Season Eight's" shows!! |
AnglePlay Stars 40" x 40" This is an invitational quilt, one of a set of twelve that will be shown over the next year by Carol Britt and her "Batiks Etc. and Sew What Fabrics." Carol invited twelve quilt makers to help her celebrate 20 years in business by sending them a specially designed batik fabric, asking them to make a quilt with it. The celebration fabric is the one right next to the main arms of the largest green star; it was also used as the main star on the upper right. I was hooked—because spirals (which are in the center of the whirling batik shapes) are a favorite motif of mine! I of course wanted more of Carol's batiks to work with, and challenged myself to use all that she sent me in response, in this quilt! (I used all but two!). The only fabric I added to the set is the teal "paint stroke" fabric in the background. All of these stars were designed and assembled using the AnglePlay templates... |
