Classes
Margaret is known for the humor, enthusiasm, and sincere encouragement of quiltmakers at all levels of skill and experience in her lectures and workshops. She takes quilters at whatever stage they are, and encourages them to reach for the unexpected in their quilts. She often gets students to achieve things they didn’t know they could, and take a step or two down the road toward becoming at ease with color and design.
Contracts: Email or phone confirmation of a booking gets your group penciled in to the calendar; we will send you a contract. When we receive your copy of the signed contract, your booking is confirmed and the time will be held for your group's event.
Cancellation: If you must cancel the booking after the airline tickets have been purchased, your group is liable for the cost of the airline tickets. If you cancel within six weeks of the booking, you are liable for a $300 booking fee, as we have probably turned down other bookings while we held this time for your group.
Fees: In addition to the teaching fees, the following costs may be associated with a given booking:
- round trip airfare (we book these at least 21 days in advance for the best fare);
- single room hotel accommodation; non smoking, in a hotel in which there is a good breakfast either included or at a nearby restaurant (within walking distance); internet access, and a table to work at in the room.
- luggage fees (sometimes overweight, often bag check-in fees)
- parking at the airport
- ferry fare from Bremerton
- overnight hotel near Seatac Airport if very early flight to begin trip.
- car rental when appropriate, and gas for car
- shuttle service where needed
- meal reimbursement where appropriate ($30/day)
All workshops are one day (six instructional hours) or two days (12 instructional hours) in duration. Strips That Sizzle, Easy Pieces, Samplin' AnglePlay™ and The Magic Four Patch Unit are sewing workshops. The others are design workshops in the one-day version, and design-and-construction workshops as two-day presentations. Two-day versions, where available, are highly recommended.
All workshops can be expanded and/or combined to create an exhilarating four-day workshop format. Further information on such four-day (or five-day) retreat-type workshops is available on request.
Note: Four of these workshops (Blockbender Quilts, Strips that Sizzle, Easy Pieces, and Smashing Settings), all based on books by Margaret, have been featured on the HGTV television program "Simply Quilts." The world of AnglePlay is featured in episode 401 of www.thequiltshow.com with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson.
