Biography

Margaret J. Miller is a studio quiltmaker who travels widely giving lectures and workshops on color and design which encourage students to "reach for the unexpected" in their contemporary quiltmaking. Her full teaching schedule has taken her throughout the United States, as well as to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England and Denmark. Her presentations are known for their enthusiasm, humor, and sincere encouragement of quiltmakers of all levels of skill and experience.

She is the author of Blockbuster Quilts (1991), Strips That Sizzle (1992), and Blockbender Quilts (1995), all published by That Patchwork Place, Bothell, WA. Her "Bloomin' Quilt Grids" technique was one chapter in the Oxmoor House book Quilt with the Best (1992).

Easy Pieces: Creative Color Play with Two Simple Quilt Blocks was published by C & T Publishing (Lafayette, CA) in September 1998, and Smashing Sets: Exciting Ways to Arrange Quilt Blocks in fall of 2000. At the International Quilt Market in Houston, she launched her AnglePlay™ Templates, for rotary cutting the elongated triangle shape with perfect piecing results. The book AnglePlay Blocks (C & T Publishing) was introduced, as well as a design CD (with 309 AnglePlay™ blocks) produced by Electric Quilt Company, called EQ5 AnglePlay Blocks. The templates are available in sets, including design booklets with pattersn for 3 quilts and 21 blocks.
