Welcome to MillerQuilts.com

We have just returned from Houston's Quilt Market and Festival, where we introduced new patterns to use with the AnglePlay templates, and the first of our instructional dvd's, so you can have fun with Strips that Sizzle and Easy Pieces! Both of these block making systems will produce blocks that are so versatile that the challenge will be to quit playing with them on the wall, and sew them into a quilt! You will learn so much about value and color, almost in spite of yourself!

Both of these techniques are wonderful for making charity quilts in groups, for making quick gift quilts (even big wedding quilts!), for using up fabrics on your shelf that "don't quite fit" into other quilt projects, and for learning about value and color--painlessly!

Strips That Sizzle DVD coverStrips that Sizzle

The book Strips that Sizzle has been out of print for years, so here is your new opportunity to acquire how-tos for that wonderful way of making easy, fast quilts. You will get step-by-step instruction on choosing fabrics, sewing tips, many arrangements of the blocks, and a gallery of the many Strips that Sizzle quilts I've made to date, along with their stories!

Easy Pieces DVD coverEasy Pieces

There are two versatile blocks featured in this book, each of which involves only triangles and wedge shapes. The shapes are all free-cut; wedges are cut from a rectangle on which you eyeball the angle that creates the wedge; the triangles come from rectangles cut corner-to-corner.

You will be led through both a step-by-step technique of choosing fabrics and making a basic set of blocks, and through various arrangements of the blocks on your design wall. You will later add to this set, and will find it difficult to determine your favorite arrangement of them!

The added magic of Easy Pieces is that as you are cutting the shapes for the blocks, you are cutting for an equal number of mirror-image blocks! You can imagine how many hundreds of possibilities this adds to the number of quilts you can create with the Easy Pieces blocks.

Autumn Gala

This open but gently bordered quilt features autumn colors; but it would be equally successful in the colors of other seasons; spring greens, summer florals, and of course the burgundies and forest greens of Christmas and winter berries.

There are only two basic blocks to this quilt, plus edge units which form the softly swagged border.

The blocks blend into the border, camouflaging where the quilt stops and the border begins!

Stars on a String

This sparkly quilt makes you look like a piecing genius! It looks complex, but there are only six different blocks in this quilt. Our block tray system will keep you organized, and the viewer will be hard pressed to see where one block stops, and the next one begins . . .

Sparkle Plenty

This quilt is based on one block pattern, called "Sparkler". Using the block both upright and rotated 90 degrees creates the tessellated pattern you see in the quilt. The blocks in the center of the quilt differ only by color placement within the block, and the blocks on the outer edge have slight design line differences to form the "folded ribbon" inner border. The optical illusion is that the colored pinwheels are the main block; but in reality, they form when four blocks come together.
